Jumbo Golf is launching a 11-day vacationto Sicilyisland of Italy , focusing on scenic sightseeing, gourmet dining, cultural and historic exploration and golfing.

Everyone in Hong Kong has long heard about Sicily, when you join us for this tour, you’ll be overwhelmed by the fabulous sights of Punic cities, Greek temples, Roman amphitheaters, Norman-Arab castles and Aragonese churches. In other words, expect a unique place full of art, archeology, history, folklore, breathtaking scenery and of course, great food!

Experience a rich legacy of cultures, both modern and historic, at a close range! Marvel at the Temple of Concorde, an ancient Greek temple in the Valley of Temples. Sit around Teatro Greco, an ancient Greek amphitheater, and snap lots of pictures. Step into Medieval churches. It’s all like travelling back in time to the golden age of ancient Greece!

Sicily is equally blessed with some of the most spectacular natural landscapes on earth– Mount Etna, a live volcano that spews lava coming down snow-covered slopes; Turkish Steps, a pristine-white limestone-and-clay cliff that looks as though it’s carefully chiseled by man and painted in pure white (though all this is the work of Nature).

February to visit Sicily – when the rainy seasons are over with daytime temperatures of 15 degree Celsius – is great time for golf! We’ll be teeing off at some of Europe’s most sophisticated top-rated golf facilities, including Vendura Golf Resort and Spa, Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa (great parkland course) and Picciolo Golf Club! Five games will be covered by our itinerary. Also, Sicily is so rich in breathtaking natural landscape that forms a wonderful backdrop to many of its golf courses. For example, Picciolo would offer year-round golf with volcano views from every tee and green.

And the meals we will be serving are nothing short of glorious – deluxe fresh, meticulously prepared seafood; traditional Italian recipes at a Sicilian home restaurant; gourmet restaurant offerings with a mix of culinary styles……

Five-star accommodation or characterful hotel will be arranged for you to enjoy a high level of inroom comfort and hospitality.

All the destination activities listed in the itinerary are covered, along with the gourmet meals mentioned.

The day’s itinerary begins with a tour of the famous Turkish Steps. Here, the brilliant white and weather-formed Scala dei Turchi juts into the sea off Sicily’s southern coast. The rock is a perfect diving board for beach-goers and irresistible for photographers.

The Steps are a beautiful white marl cliff, a sedimentary rock formed by limestone and clay. Wind and rain have modelled it into a staircase. The view is unique, and the white of the rocks looks brighter because the sun light insinuates itself between the light blue of the sky and the deep blue of the water.

Around the region, we’ll enjoy a gourmet seafood lunch leisurely.

In the afternoon, the coach will take us back to the Valley of the Temple, where we can explore the Temple of Concorde at length in an attempt to unravel its mysterious beauty.

If you are keen on photographs, just head for the bell tower of Chiesa di San Carlo where guarantees a fine view over Noto's honey coloured monuments, especially in late afternoon for the best light for photographs.

Taormina is beautiful by day but in the evenings its atmosphere is simply enchanting. There’s the rare spectacle of Mount Etna’s lava flowing along snow-covered slopes. Taormina has fascinating archeological monuments and medieval homes, with a view overlooking the Greco-Roman amphitheater.

Tee off in the afternoon atPicciolo Golf Club, Sicily’s first golf course and designed in 1989, by Luigi Rota Caremoli. At a height of 650 metres above the sea, the beautiful 18 holes are among oaks, hazels and vineyards. Volcano Etna is the great attraction of the course, dominating the view from almost every hole.

In the other direction, Mount Etna rises up almost 11,000 feet, and the scene is every photographer's dream, especially on a clear day. Dating back to the third century BC, it was used as a theater with the orchestra at the center and a seating capacity of 5000 spectators.
